Simon Beck was born in Vaduz, Liechtenstein, in 1992. He studied Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at ETH Zürich. He received the BSc. in 2014 and the MSc. in 2017. In his Master's thesis, he designed and implemented a novel high precision, high accuracy PWM scheme for a modular multilevel converter (MMC) at the Laboratory for High Power Electronic Systems (HPE). During his studies, he was also a teaching assisstant at the Laboratory for Power Electronic Systems (PES).
In 2017, he co-founded a successful information & communications technology (ICT) company in Vaduz, Liechtenstein, where he designed and implemented standard operating procedures (SOPs) along with custom ERP/CRM applications in the role of a development engineer. Furthermore, he provisioned and maintained ISP-grade networking devices.
In 2021, he decided to look for a new challenge in his original field of electrical enginnering. Since December 2021, he is working towards his Ph.D. degree at the Laboratory for High Power Electronic Systems on the topic of wireless energy transfer.
