Research at the Laboratory for High Power Electronic Systems (HPE) focuses on converter systems, which are required, for example, in future power distribution for renewable energy sources, traction applications or advanced drive systems for electric vehicles, more electric aircraft, robotics & industrial applications. Another research focus is on solid-state pulse modulators for medical applications such as cancer treatment or particle accelerators (CERN, PSI). In the modern & fully equipped laboratory, the investigated concepts are validated by prototype systems based on the latest technologies. Experiments can be carried out up to medium voltage levels.
